Do owners have to use a specified architect?

All homes in the community will share a very distinct and common approach to design. Omer Arbel Office will be the exclusive architect designing each home at Governors Point.

What about HOA dues?

There will be a common owners association which will maintain common area elements of the community. Examples include the unique lighting installations throughout the point as well as gate, mailbox, and community road maintenance.

Can I build a Cape Cod style home at GP?

All the future homes will have a similar exterior aesthetic which has been carefully curated by Omer Arbel. Although buyers can be involved in the design process, a Cape Cod style home would not be permitted.

How does the public access work?

98 of the 125 acres have been donated to the Whatcom Land Trust for public access and recreation. A majority of the donated land exists to the east of the residential lots. Visitors to Governors Point will gain access via a parking lot on Pleasant Bay road. 2.5+ miles of trails have been built as well as two specific beach access points. Only property owners in the Governors Point community will have access to the residential areas.

What about private docks?

There are no plans to have private boat docks as a part of the community.

Who is the builder?

Many of the design elements and construction techniques are unique and proprietary. For this reason, future owners will be using Instinct Builders, a local contractor with first hand experience. Instinct is currently building the first Governors Point home on Lot 16.

Is there a home square footage maximum?

Yes, homes will be limited to 2,900 square feet of living space with ability to add up to 1,100 square feet of additional detached living area.
